About Teaching at Praise Academy
Glory be to Jesus Christ, who loves the little children, who abides in the poor, and who is calling us all out of darkness into His marvelous light!
In 2002, God sent a small group of Christian missionaries to Lakeside, a low-income neighborhood in Shreveport, LA. In 2015, urged by the Holy Spirit and the Lakeside families, these missionaries opened a safe, Christian, neighborhood school: Praise Academy.
Praise Academy now educates children in kindergarten through eighth grade, from Lakeside and beyond. We are a small school, attending to the needs of every student and fostering each child's natural ability to become productive, employable and active members of family and community. We strive that every student would grow in their understanding of the world around them and know the dignity of being God’s sons and daughters.
Praise Academy is a place for men and women who view teaching as a calling and a ministry, an opportunity to serve God’s children.
Teachers at Praise Academy are more (but not less) than classroom instructors. They teach reading and mathematics, geography and Bible class, how to speak well of others, and how to pray. In and outside of the classroom, they labor alongside their fellow teachers and the parents of their students to help these children grow in wisdom, understanding, and Christian maturity.
Responsibilities would include:
Developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
Delivering engaging, age-appropriate instruction
Assessing and monitoring student progress
Cultivating a positive, Christ-centered classroom culture
Building strong relationships with students and families
Collaborating closely with a team of fellow educators
Participating in school life, events, and ongoing development
Who We’re Looking For:

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and/or classroom teaching license
